Check the accents in your room next. End tables that are simply square with four straight legs are not nearly as decorative or ingenious as tables with a drum theme. The drum gives them more personality in your room. Even if someone only notices the shape of these tables, they make your room look more exotic.

Whether you select a simple drum table or one that is more ornate, it will be a conversation piece in whatever room you place it in. You can incorporate accessories that play on the same theme, as well, to add to the unique look of your décor. You might also like to add a wooden chest to your room, to add to the effect.

The remainder of the room may contain chairs that look like they are antiques, even though they may very well not be old at all. These would fit with the look of the drum table you display next to your sofa or chair.

Most drum tables are circular and heavy, with one main support in the center. Many of these drums were first seen late in the 18th century. The support could be a pillar on tapered legs or even claw feet. For other tables, the supports may rest on one platform, showing four sides that are concave.

There is a variation on the drum table that's known as a rent table. It has a polygonal or circular top, with drawers in the horizontal band. These were originally labeled with all the days in the week, thus setting up a filing system for people who collect rent every month.

There are many various types of tables based on the look of drums. These tables are mainly characterized by table tops that are circular, and the tables sometimes contain small drawers. The appearance of a drum in most cases is unmistakable. Some tables of drum design also include harp designs on the base. These lyre designs are quite popular in some coffee tables, as well.

The type of drum table that you can purchase today lends its style and spirit back to the adventurous days of pirates on the high seas. Newer tables can rival originals, as far as their authentic looks are concerned.

The modern drum table is often made with select solid woods, in addition to resin components, wood products and beautiful wood veneers. The border may be inlaid with designs like fossils or snakeskin, and the top is often a lovely veneer. A drum table may have one or more drawers and doors, so they're quite handy for stowing away magazines and the like. The finish of drum tables is lovely and deep, and they make an excellent addition to rooms with character.
