Almost any bedroom can use more space. Storage is always at a premium, and adding seating space as well is a great bonus. You can use a bench with a seating cushion for reading, or for sitting while you're getting ready to head off to work. A bench is an attractive piece to include in your room, even if it doesn't offer storage space, but getting both is a wise use of space.

Bedroom benches can be found in many different sizes and shapes. You can place them near a window, if you like, rather than at the foot of the bed. You can even place one in each location, so that you can use the window bench for reading. They free up so much space in your linen closet or clothes closet, by handling all the bed linen storage for you. You can also use benches to store out of season clothing or shoes, if you have lots of pairs that you don't wear all the time.

When you're checking into benches for seating and storage purposes, remember to take into account the size of your room. You don't want to select bedroom storage benches that are too large, or they will not look proportionate to your room. The right size bench will fit right in, and become immediately useful. Measure the areas where you plan to put your benches, so you're sure that the room will accommodate them.

Your new bench should complement your current furnishings, too. Try not to select a bench that looks nothing like the style of the other furniture in the room. It will only look out of place, and it won't be enjoyed as much, if that is the case. It doesn't have to be a carbon copy of any specific furnishing, but it should look well alongside them. Choosing metal or wood  is usually based on what the rest of your furniture is made from.

What is the main reason you are purchasing a bench? If you need storage foremost, you might opt for a larger bench, although, again, it shouldn't be too large for your room. If you need seating more than storage space, perhaps you'd like a bench that is a bit more ornate, and one that has room for a comfortable cushion on top.

Some benches also have open space underneath them. Items can be stored in plain sight there, or displayed. If you're not going to use the bench for a sitting area, it won't need a cushion on top. Once you decide the best style for your bedroom, and the best size for your storage needs, you can determine if you need the extra seating, and choose from the best of bedroom storage benches.
