Some of the most charming chairs have warm wood finishes that make your room more welcoming and relaxing. These chairs may have plain seats or upholstery, and chairs with some sort of padding are usually more comfortable than those left with a seat of wood, or whatever particular material the chair is made from. You may find arm chairs that will go with either contemporary or traditional decor.

Select chairs that you truly like, since you'll be spending lots of time seated at your dining table. The chairs you choose need to correspond with the size, color and style of your table.

Around your table, there will be less room if you choose to use all arm chairs and no side chairs. This can still be done, if you like the look – just be aware that you won't be able to seat as many people as you will if you mix arm and side chairs. Arm chairs have more of a traditional look in some cases, and side chairs may be a little more easily blended into a contemporary dining room.

You'll probably want to purchase a good-sized table if you plan to use only arm chairs in the dining room of your house. The most popular way of choosing chairs quite often involves two dining arm chairs, and then the rest of the table is served by side chairs.
